Notes: From the rough gemstone you see in the photos, I have faceted this beautiful blue zircon from Cambodia. (Do not confuse natural zircon with cubic zirconia, which is a synthetic gemstone with almost no value.) This natural zircon has an exceptional colour and is completely clean and pure. The cut is truly spectacular: it is called “Arrowhead” and it is a design by Loren Brown.
Gemological certificate included: with a photo of the rough crystal and the cutting diagram.

Natural Zircon, a truly beautiful and underrated gemstone.
Zircon is one of nature’s most fascinating gemstones. It has been sought after and treasured by many civilizations—without knowing that it is the oldest gemstone ever discovered. Zircon crystals began forming an astonishing 4.4 billion years ago.
Its exceptionally high brilliance and strong dispersion give it an appearance very similar to diamond. It should not be confused with cubic zirconia, which is a man-made laboratory material with no real gemstone value. Zircon occurs in many colours, with blue, pink, and yellow among the most prized.
Some of these colours—especially blues—are obtained through heat treatment or irradiation. Zircon also has one of the highest refractive indices found in nature (1.92–2.01), higher than three of the four “precious” gemstones: ruby, sapphire, and emerald.
Caring for and cleaning zircon is simple. The best method is to wipe the gemstone with a soft cloth or use a soft-bristled brush with a mild, neutral soap. Rinse the zircon with lukewarm or room-temperature water to remove any soap residue.
In short, zircon is a natural gemstone with extraordinary properties: remarkable colours, brilliant flashes of light, and a true treasure for jewellery lovers and gemstone collectors. It is also considered one of the birthstones for December, making it a wonderful gift for anyone born in the last month of the year—or for anyone who appreciates the dazzling fire of its crystals.
Zircon is a December gemstone, along with tanzanite.
